What we need to print your job right.
By Long Island Custom Printing · Huntington, NY · Updated May 2026
A print-ready file is the difference between a clean job and a redo. Here is exactly what to send, the most common issues we see, and the fastest way to fix them.
The five requirements
1. File format
PDF preferred. AI, EPS, PSD, TIFF, and high-resolution JPG or PNG accepted. Send fonts outlined or embedded.
2. Resolution
300 DPI at final print size. A 72 DPI web image enlarged to a banner will pixelate.
3. Color mode
CMYK, not RGB. Bright on-screen RGB colors shift toward a duller print color when converted at the press. Convert in your design app before uploading.
4. Bleed and safe zone
0.0625 inch bleed per side past the trim line (1/16 inch per side, 1/8 inch total across each dimension). Keep important text 0.125 inch inside the trim line so nothing gets cut off. Booklets, NCR forms, and label stocks use a heavier 0.125 inch per side — check the product page for the exact bleed spec.
5. Fonts
Outline fonts in your design app, or embed them in your PDF. Files with live text can substitute the wrong font on our end.
